“Lord did a fantastic job. We were able to interview 30 long-listed candidates who on paper met our requirements after Andrew had made personal contact with key individuals and convinced them to consider one of these five Assistant Director posts.”

“This was really impressive at a time when it is hard to recruit good senior people in children’s services and to an authority whose children’s services are currently struggling and in government intervention.”

“Throughout the process and at every stage Lord kept the candidates and us as clients fully informed and engaged, meeting very tight and challenging deadlines. We are delighted that we have filled all 5 senior management posts with really good candidates who will soon be joining us.”

Eleanor Brazil, Interim DCS at Haringey, Leeds, Birmingham, Stoke and Doncaster Councils, Commissioner for children’s social care in Slough, Dudley & Sandwell

“I have no hesitation in recommending Andrew – I have worked with him as both a candidate and a client, he has the experience to truly understand a role, and the ability to identify and engage with the strongest candidates, to represent the organisation and candidate honestly and to always secure a positive outcome. We have since used Andrew to recruit a new Head of Service, a Service Manager, and a group of Team Managers. We were able to interview and appoint a Service Manager to lead safeguarding within 3 weeks of giving Andrew the brief.”

Tina Russell, Head of Service – Shropshire Council

“Andrew’s support in placing the right resources into the right roles at the right time has been vital. They have always come in within budget, within timelines, and stood out from other consultancies by exactly understanding our needs and the sensitivities of some of these roles. I would have no hesitation recommending Andrew to any organisation.”

Jens Gemmel, Transformation Director – Tower Hamlets

Andrew Tromans managed the search process for our chief executive most capably. The recruitment was well directed and a good field emerged. Sound information was provided on each candidate and, on the basis of the interviews of those selected for the long list; we were able to whittle the field down to a short-list. Again, the organisation of the final interview process was well-managed, providing guidance without attempting unduly to influence the panel. As the chair of CoRE, and responsible overall for the selection process, I was very happy both with the result and with Andrew Tromans’ contribution to it.

Michael Gahagan, formerly Director of Housing and of Regeneration at the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister, and Chair of CoRE

I have worked with Andrew Tromans closely and found him easy to work with. He listens to what we seek to achieve from each campaign and always pulls a plan together which the organisation is happy to endorse. His results  speak  for  themselves  and  one  of  his key  strengths  is around  getting  a  diverse  range  of  talent  to  apply  for  key  positions,  thus  giving an organisation a wider pool of applicants.

Mehrunnisa Lalani, Director – The Law Society

Within 4 weeks of giving the brief, five excellent candidates were interviewed for the position of Assistant Chief Executive over a two-day period of assessments.

The process was hard and the competition very close with candidates being interviewed by a young people’s panel, external stakeholders including fire service and health service representatives, and interviews with elected members. The HR Committee was unanimous in its decision to offer the job to Charlie with cross-party support from both Labour and City Independent Councillors.

These are exciting times for the city council and I am certain in appointing Charlie that we have someone who is highly qualified and abundantly experienced to perform well in this post and help to deliver our Mandate for Change by ensuring we are a confident and effective council fit for purpose.

On behalf of the Human Resources Committee I would like to formally thank Andrew Tromans for the first class job you did for Stoke-on-Trent City Council in undertaking the recruitment and selection process for the post of Assistant Chief Executive. Your professionalism and thoroughness were outstanding.

Councillor Martin Garner, Chair of Stoke-on-Trent City Council’s HR Committee

We have been through a period of significant change, transforming from being a grant funded organisation to a self-sustaining business, not only growing income, but drastically growing the proportion of income that is generated commercially. We have delivered significant commercial growth whilst developing our services and our ability to consistently deliver high-quality services, to better meet our members and clients’ skills needs.

Having Andrew Tromans ensure that we have the right people in key leadership positions has been essential in ensuring that we have been able to change our business model, get closer to government and regain the confidence of our stakeholders to put our skills agenda into our members’ boardrooms.

Neil Robertson, Chief Executive – EU Skills

“Andrew was recommended to me by a colleague, and I have been absolutely delighted with our first engagement – recruiting a senior Programme Director.

“I found Andrew very easy to work with – he understood exactly what we needed from an external consultant, was very responsive to us, and he worked with a sense of focus and urgency, without compromising on the quality of the candidates that were presented.

“We were able to short-list candidates for initial interview within 4 weeks of the search brief being taken; and we made an excellent appointment shortly thereafter.”

Andrea Harvey, Head of People & Development at Cheshire Fire & Rescue Service
